Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The characters in the book are quite ordinary and so is the storyline. But when all of the elements come together, it forms a splendid cocktail of wit, suspense, and fun.
The story is centered around Eleanor Oliphant, a loner with a traumatic past leading an ordinary life in Scotland. Not a character I could relate to or catches my interest. But the narration is funny and feels very authentic. It takes you into the head of an introvert who has carved out a world of her own with simple pleasures.
The supporting characters are interesting, each with their own peculiar style and persona. The novel is fast-paced, entertaining and leaves you on a positive note of hope and happiness. What makes this novel is spectacular is how it unwinds. The interesting ending suddenly answers all the questions you have been accumulating throughout the novel.
An entertaining one time read.
